Hi there! Welcome to Heart of a Mum. I’m Beth, I hope this little piece of the internet finds you well.
My goal here at Heart of a Mum is to ultimately help and inspire others. Especially those with little ones.
When I became a new mother I was overwhelmed, to say the least. I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I felt unprepared and underqualified.
Feelings that are probably pretty typical but not really needed.
I had lots of great motherly roles in my life including mothers, sisters, grandmothers, the list could go on. Even though I was not alone it was still scary.
I know I have really only been a mother for quite a short time, so I am no expert by any means, but I feel I have grown tremendously.
My hope is to be able to share things that have worked for me, crossing my fingers that they will help another mother in need.
Before I had a baby I wasn’t too concerned about my own healthy lifestyle. I wasn’t terribly unhealthy by any means. However, once I had a tiny human to care for and who was completely dependent on me I became a thousand times more conscious.
I wanted him to be as healthy as possible. I wanted to make sure the choices I made for him were the best I could make, in regards to his whole wellbeing.
I’m still learning and growing through the exciting and tiring journey of motherhood, but hopefully, you can find something here that will help you in your own life.
Whether it is sleep training tips or baby toy recommendations, or maybe just knowing someone else is going through a similar thing, I really hope I can offer some benefit to you.
Motherhood is a gift from God and it is a beautiful one, so let’s do our best to enjoy every part of it.
I was born and raised in England but my family and I moved to America when I was 15 and a half (you can get a more detailed version of that story here).
You probably now are piecing together Heart of a “Mum” with where I came from!
Even though I am now an American citizen, I am still British born so I need to keep that legacy somewhere, right?!
I am a wife to a pretty amazing guy! His name is Tanner and he is my whole world! We got married January 2014 and life ever since has been the best.
I am pretty dang lucky to go through life’s crazy rides with him by my side.
I am also a mother to the cutest and most squishy little boy. Life without these two would be pretty lonely.
We also have the coolest dog ever! A standard poodle named Murphy. He is seriously the best dog we could ever ask for.
More than anything my family is the most important to me. I love spending time with them, it brings me the most joy.
Religion also plays a huge part in my everyday living. Striving to be more like my Savior Jesus Christ is something that I am constantly working towards.
I love anything animal-related, especially horses!
My dad would always tease me when I was little and say I was going to marry a 4 legger (a horse) someday.
Both Tanner and I have a goal to buy land and build our own little farm.
I grew up on a farm from the age of 5 and seriously had the best childhood any kid could dream of. I was able to learn how to work hard from a young age but also have plenty of fun.
We want to provide that same lifestyle for our kids, so that is our plan! It may seem crazy and unreachable, but in reality, you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to.
I will probably share some of that journey on here too.
Beth’s likes and dislikes to wrap it up
I love chocolate, way too much.
Summertime is my favorite time of year, although I love celebrating Christmas so those two may have to be a tie.
I don’t like the rain unless it’s that sweet summer rain you can get, but raining in February is my least favorite (I got my fair share of rain growing up in England).
My husband taught me how to fly fish in the first couple of years of being married and I really enjoy that too.
The countryside and farm life are where my heart is but visiting the city can be fun too.
I do not like any type of seafood and the smell of olives makes me want to hurl.
I am scared of spiders and to be quite frank, I just don’t like any type of bug or insect. Except for ladybirds, they’re pretty cute!
Heights are definitely not at the top of my list either, unless I’m riding a roller coaster.
Well, as you could see I like to chat and I could go on and on. But that is enough for now. I hope you stick around, I would love to have you here!
